Thoughts on the article titled “Sevā: The Heart of Spiritual Citizenship” by Marcy Braverman Goldstein in Tarka Journal. We say, read, hear, and chant, *“May all people be happy ~ Lokāḥ samastāḥ sukhino bhavantu!” But what are we doing to make it happen? …Are we devotedly working for the well-being of humanity, remembering that actions ricochet off one another in an endless dynamic that affects each person?
On Energy “burn-out”
Thoughts on the text “The City of Eleven Gates” from the book “Essence of the Upanishads” by Eknath Easwaran. Every day we are overwhelmed by dozens of stimuli. The external environment constitutes the “paradise” of our senses. It has sight, smell, sound, taste and texture. And as it constantly changes, each of these elements, that characterize the countless objects and beings existing therein, is transformed every time into something different.
On Expectations
Thoughts on the text “Karma-Yoga, The Way of Self-Transcending Action” from the book “The Deeper Dimensions of Yoga” by Georg Feuerstein. A long, long time ago I had started reading Georg Feuerstein’s book “The Deeper Dimensions of Yoga” in the way I always do with books skimming through the text before reading it in its entirety, while stopping at the points that seemed to be of the greatest interest.
